Why I find it so hard to answer the question…
What do you do?
This question makes me pause every time because I don’t just identify as an artist nor just an educator… I’m a mom, a gardener, a cook, library technician, observer, explorer… I dabble in woodworking, jewelry making, painting, baking… I live my life inspired by the things around me and driven to research the questions I have.
My first coil pot, yes I still have it!!
Why focus on education?
This website is the culmination of years of finding my place in the art world. I have always struggled with advertising my personal work and having the spotlight on my life. Most of my artwork is personalized and sometimes private, this is contrary to social media. Focusing on being an educator and sharing my experiences for others to learn and grow has provided me the community and fulfillment I seek. As an educator, having resources and inspiration is vital to great lessons- Resources, not to just copy and paste, but research and practice. Anything that can spark an idea, build an original concept. This is why I focus on education: to inspire makers and educators to embrace the creative process as a lifestyle and a job.
